Yes, you guessed it (or no, you guessed it not): the above is supposed to be Fred's hometown Sintra, with barbed wire and horror-flick tuk tuks.
DECEMBER 25 NEWS: 'WEDNESDAY' is now availabloe for pre-orders HERE.
But most imprtantly: thank YOU for being a brave lover of odd music!
So, welcome to WEDNESDAY, the day of the week when poets vanish and mass-tourists fourish. Welcome also to the purposely dull retro-styled site for Daymoon's new album by the same dull name.
Big News: thanks to our prog radio friend Emanuel Correia, we've found ourselves a new label - OOB Records in The Netherlands, and we're happy to report that we've never had support like this in our by now unexpectly long history. Thank you for taking us on board, Fair Lady Kat!
And now, in previous episodes: just after completing our fourth album, our drummer-cum-keyboarder-cum-producer André Marques sadly abandoned Daymoon in late 2021, plunging the band into a gaping creative black hole. Thus bereft, we decided to tip-toe around the event horizon of such tulips, and concocted an album recklessly comprising no drums. And if that was not enough, an album based loosely around the humdrum idea of being stuck forever inside a glum Wednesday.
But not all is glum, for...
...Jeff Markham is back in the band! Mr. Markham had been on vocal duties for our second album, Fabric of Space Divine, but is now at the masterly helm of a multitude of keyboards plus all sorts of compositional tasks. Truth be said, the compositions and arrangements on this album were much more band-based than anything Daymoon has ever done in the past, with every single musician weighing in pretty much equally on most tracks.
We are also proud beyond humble words to have had three extraordinary guests on board:
- The entrancing Courtney Swain (of Bent Knee fame) on Real Diehl
- Mrs Swain's unbelievably gifted husband Vince Welch, who already ensured the unexpected sonic success of our previous album, and has now mastered Wednesday and even mixed two of the tracks.
- The most graceful Ed McGlauglin on upright bass on The Healing.
Alright, so go now and pick a
track on the left to hear
& read about what we've got for you.
And it gets even better: you can get the whole shebang on a suddenly old-fashioned shiny
disc with a gorgeous barb-wired booklet crafted lovingly and artfully by our
goodest Gouveia art friend Dinis 'Noca' Ramos.
